About this role

Lead electrical field operations on commercial construction projects in Richmond, VA. This hands-on role supervises electricians, apprentices, and laborers to keep work on schedule, on budget, and installed to plans, specs, codes, and industry standards. You'll coordinate materials, equipment, and other trades, conduct quality and safety inspections, read and interpret blueprints and contract documents, and resolve field issues quickly. This role is a strong fit for a journeyman electrician with proven foreman/leadman experience who wants to grow as a field operations leader.

What you'll do

• Supervise and direct electricians, apprentices, and laborers on active commercial job sites; assign daily tasks and monitor productivity.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and contract documents to lay out and verify work.
• Plan and adjust work sequences, order and organize materials and equipment, and coordinate with other trades to meet the construction schedule.
• Conduct jobsite safety walkthroughs, enforce site safety rules and PPE use, and lead quality-control inspections.
• Troubleshoot field problems, make timely decisions to keep work on schedule and within scope, and coordinate inspections and permits.
• Maintain daily reports, timecards, job documentation, and clear communication with the superintendent and project team.

What we're looking for

• Journeyman electrician background with a minimum of 2 years' journeyman experience and 2+ years as a foreman/leadman in commercial construction.
• Hands-on experience with commercial electrical installations: lighting systems, power distribution, overcurrent device selection/installation, standby/emergency systems, and low-voltage/VDV work.
• Strong blueprint and technical drawing interpretation skills; ability to read plans, specs, and contract documents and apply them in the field.
• Proven leadership and team management skills with clear verbal and written communication; able to coordinate crews and trade interfaces.
• Knowledge of local, state, and national electrical codes and inspection processes; ability to enforce quality and compliance on site.
• Proficient with basic computer tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) for reporting and coordination; valid driver's license and ability to pass background check and drug screen.

Qualifications

• Journeyman electrician certification/license
• Minimum 2 years' journeyman experience plus 2+ years as a commercial foreman/leadman
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening
• Fluent English (reading, writing, and verbal)
• OSHA 10/30 or equivalent site safety certification preferred
